final pieces: front cover, contents page and double page spread

front cover

My front cover was the most enjoyable out of the three because i felt it had more of an artistic way of working. I think the masthead was one aspect that really draws your eyes to the page. The tag lines give a brief summary of whats in the magazine. The colour scheme was very important because it represents the colour scheme that runs throughout the magazine.

contents page

The contents page was one part of the music magazine that i felt took the most effort, this is because i kept doing the wrong things and i had to change it throughout the process. I'm glad with the final piece because i feel it goes with the connotations of a contents page with similar elements and gives enough information without ruining the actual articles.

double page spread

The double page spread was the easiest of the three, i wanted to keep it simple and informal because the fans relate to the artist more. When researching i found that the double page spreads don't overpower the audience with colours and only use them on the picture of the artist to illustrate their importance.

the double page spread for the music magazine

the double page spread is dedicated to the artist "Magik Mole" with the blue box giving the audience back ground information about the artist and the main interview is presented in a question and answer which shows a personal touch because its more about the artists views. the other page is primarily taken up by the image of the artist. i wanted the picture to look grubby, this is why its in a skatepark and why the quotes present an idea of larger than life characteristics, however he is in normal clothing because i wanted to give the idea that anyone could get to where he is and follow his career.

the contents page for music magazine

this is the contents page for the magazine, it gives details of whats going to appear in the magazine without giving too much away. it conforms to the conventions of a contents page with adverts, images and information. this page goes with the conventions of  the genre because it tells about the artists, events and albums which are some of the important factors in the genre.

the front cover for music magazine "Total Bass"

this is cover page for the magazine "Total Bass".i like it because its simplistic and grabs the eye of the audience because it the logo and the writing stands out. the image is dark and mysterious which connotes he is mysterious and isn't looking for too much attention which the audience would appreciate because he isn't pretending that he is something he is not.

contents page development of picture

This is the picture i used for the contents page at the start it looks unprofessional and not mysterious.

With some editing tool to make the background darker the model stands out and attracts the audiences attention.
With a bit more work added to change the colour pallet, this makes the image stand out and adds mystery and some fantasy, thus adding the some characteristics to the model that makes him look larger than life and not the same as any other teenager.

step by step for my front cover

this is the step by step for the cover, which shows how i created the final ground cover following the conventions of the genre and magazine. starting with the ordinary photo of the model and then changing the effects to make it more gritty and darker, i did this to create a sense of mystery and attitude in the model. then i started on the title of the magazine " TOTAL BASS" which stands out and will become iconic to the target audience and fans of the genre. i move onto the subheadings next, making sure they represent the genre and attracted the audience. the final step was the detail on the cover which makes it look more attractive and gives the idea that it can compete against other brands and genres.

pictures for music magazine

i took these photos for my music magazine. i wanted the model to look urban and not too flashy because of the drum and bass scene doesn't include people who want to be the "rockstar", which can be the ideology for many music genres. i used the pictures that looked like the model had attitude and that looked like they could create music from the chosen genre.

these pictures i liked because the model is in a skatepark and looked like a normal teenage which could be a dj. this model looks creative and has attitude which could create a persona that would resemble the genre.
